Types of 3D Printers
Different types of 3D printers utilize different kinds of materials to process and manufacture the 3D models being printed. There are three main categories of 3D printers. Each with multiple designs that can print using various materials such as metal, plastic filament, to even body organs! Take a look at the video to learn more
Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM)
This is the most commonly used 3D printing process. It is the process of making a physical object by building up layers of material.
Stereolithography (SLA)
This is the most common resin 3D printing process. It is popular because of its ability to produce highly accurate, watertight, and uniform prototypes. A laser or projector cures liquid resin into hardened plastic.
Selective Laser Sintering (SLS)
These printers are used across industries for their ability to produce strong, functional parts. They use a high powered laser to sinter small particles of powder into a solid structure.
